Sometimes, a few minutes of Cookie Monster is exactly what you need. 

Yes, Cookie Monster. See, there’s a lot going on. My beloved father is in palliative care and we don’t know how much time he has left in this world but we do know it’s likely not a lot. We’re moving in less than two weeks and I am ridiculously behind. As I mentioned last week, the trial for the violent murder of the Afzaal family is now underway and the news coming out of it is heartbreaking and triggering. And then there was the devastating earthquake in Morocco and then flooding in Libya in the last week and the destruction and death tolls from both keep rising [I am hoping to do a fundraising print once most of my art stuff and reference books aren’t in boxes]. 

So today I was feeling overwhelmed thinking about everything going on in the world and my to-do list, including writing and formatting this blog post and my weekly email. But then I put on some Cookie Monster parodies while detangling Nunu’s hair [if you’ve seen her hair, you’ll understand why watching videos is crucial for both of us to stay sane during said detangling] and I immediately found myself laughing and feeling better at how ridiculous they are. 

So no, I don’t have any profound insights at the moment, aside from prayer, but I do know that these parodies are brilliant and a great way to brighten your day a bit. As a bonus, they’re obviously kid friendly but made with parents/adults in mind – watch the Twilight or When Harry Met Sally parodies and you’ll see what I mean.
